Professor Steve Roady holds appointments as Professor of the Practice of Law at Duke University School of Law, Professor of the Practice for Marine Science and Conservation at the Duke Nicholas School of the Environment, and Faculty Fellow in the Duke Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions.  In 2001-2002, he was the first president of Oceana, a non-profit, international ocean conservation organization. He has worked on a wide range of ocean conservation issues, including initiatives to protect Pacific Small Island Developing States and to improve management of Highly Migratory Species. He is closely engaged in ongoing efforts by the International Seabed Authority to establish regulations for deep seabed mining and to develop a regime to protect the High Seas seabed environment.
